The proper care and maintenance of your O.E.P. (Overhead Electrical Power) System plugs and connectors is essential in order for them to provide trouble free service. A qualified electrician should inspect all of the devices in the store for contact damage. Connecting a damaged plug into a good connector spreads the damage and perpetuates the problem. ALL burned, worn or pitted plugs AND connectors MUST be replaced to ensure fail free operation.

• Always lock the locking ring onto the connector when mated (see photos). This ensures proper connection and eliminates contact burning.
• Immediately replace any connectors or plugs that are hot to the touch.
• Examine male plugs for burned or pitted sections near the top. If the plug is burned or pitted, replace both the plug and connector inserts.
• Never disconnect the device under load. While the devices are rated for “Make and Break”, the contacts will last longer if the equipment is turned off first.
• Eliminate unnecessary strain on the connectors by providing slack in the cord. The OEP System provides extra cord length contained behind the stainless steel ceiling panels.
